Polymer Plain Bearings Keep Smokers Supplied
Igus has developed two polymer materials for its plain bearings and energy chain cable carriers to suit the needs of the tobacco industry. Demands on materials are very high in tobacco manufacturing plants. Only recommended materials, completely free from carcinogenic additives such as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), and certain specific polymers should be used. The Iglidur T220 material is marked by its tribological features. Along with its high wear resistance and low moisture consumption, users may combine it with soft shaft materials. All Igus plain bearings are 100% maintenance and lubrication-free to prevent the tobacco and packaging from becoming soiled. Polymer plain bearings are also insensitive to dirt and dust and offer abrasion resistance, even under high loads. The firm also provides energy chains to guide cables safely in tobacco industry applications. Here the material compound Igulen N allows direct contact with the tobacco.
