POLICE IN FORT ERIE ARE INVESTIGATING SOME UNUSUAL ATTACKS

Police say there have been multiple reports of incidents involving ball bearings in the town, the most serious involving a local woman who was hit in the head with one. 


On Saturday night, just before10:30 p.m. a man and woman were standing outside a local business on Central Avenue when the woman was suddenly struck in the head by a small object. 


Moments later the man felt something pass by him. 

The pair discovered two small silver ball bearings on the ground near them. 

Officers and a canine unit attended the crime scene, but no suspects were located. 

The woman was treated at the scene for minor injuries.


The man and woman both report not hearing or seeing anything prior to the incident consistent with a BB gun / Air Soft /firearm.


Detectives have identified at least two other recent incidents involving ball bearings striking buildings in Fort Erie.

On January 11th (Saturday), between 2:30am and 10:30am an apartment window on Jarvis Street west of Central Avenue was broken by a ball bearing.  


Damage was estimated at $200 and there were no injuries or suspect information.


Officers are also investigating a report of ball bearings breaking two windows at a multi-unit residence on Emerick Avenue between Central Avenue and Robinson Street. 


It is believed to have occurred in the early morning hours of January 11th (Saturday).  

Damage was estimated at $400 and again no injuries or suspect information.


Detectives have canvassed the area for information.  Detectives are appealing to businesses and residents in the area to review their closed circuit cameras footage between January 10,  (11:00pm) and January 11 (11:30pm) for anything suspicious.
